Eamonn Walshe Rathkeale Irish Weekend

Conradh na Gaeilge organised a very enjoyable schedule of talks and music in the Rathkeale House Hotel last weekend. Starting on Friday night we were welcomed by Uachtarán Dháil na Mumhan, Donnchadha Ó hAodha. Then Mike MacDomhnaill gave an account of Glór na nGael activities in the Caisleán Nua area over the last forty years.
The renowned singer Seán Garvey entertained us on Friday night accompanied by the wonderful Burke family from Cappagh, Eoin on the ‘box’ and his sister Aoife on the tin whistle.
An Canónach Micheál de Liostún traced the history of the language movement in west Limerick on Saturday morning before we set off on a walk on the Great Southern Greenway.
On Saturday evening historian Cuan Ó Seireadáin gave a very interesting lecture on the first Uachtarán na hÉireann, Dubhghlás de hÍde.
Tá lucht na teanga an-bhuíoch de Mháire Uí Ghairbhí agus a coiste a rinne an obair chun tionól den scoth a chur ar bun.
