CRY/MONAGEA LAUNCH 2019

George Daly CRY Launch at Monagea Hall

The countdown has officially begun to May 4th. Monagea for CRY, remembering Niamh and Darra now in its 7th year is firmly stamped on the annual West Limerick diary. The walk/run expertly marked and manned by Tom Brouder begins at 11am, a 10km loop beginning and ending at the hall, and a 5km route if anyone wants to take it a bit easier. Our friends at Desmond Sportive CC are excited for this year’s cycle, a 9am start with three new routes on offer, 70km, 110km and the West Limerick Endurance 125km. They have carefully navigated the roads to offer the cyclist a challenging but manageable spin. The 3 routes are “interchangeable” so if you are finding the going tough you can easily migrate from one to the other. We are so thankful to Tom, West Limerick AC and Desmond Sportive for their help in co-ordinating both events. We also want to acknowledge all the help we get every year from so many people and businesses. The community and surrounds are so generous with their time and make every resource available to us on the day. Last year alone Monagea for CRY donated €18,000 to the centre. This is a phenomenal amount of money and we are so proud to be part of this event.
The CRY team continues to provide on-going support to families bereaved by the loss of a young person from Sudden Cardiac or Arrhythmic Death, or by inherited cardiac conditions. Sadly, increasing demand has outgrown our capacity at our current location, but we’re delighted to tell you that by summer, 2019, we will have moved to new premises at Tallaght University Hospital. Staff numbers will increase from about 5 to 13, and the centre will be almost 3 times bigger.
2019 will be an exciting year in the history of CRY. However, the expanded provision and support services brings huge organisational challenges, and we always welcome help from friends, old and new, in our endeavours. CRY is committed to raising €880,000 of the €1.2m capital investment required. We will be launching a major fundraising campaign as our part of this commitment. (The HSE is funding the medical staff, and the Hospital is donating the premises, rent-free).
Your fundraising events are what keeps our centre going. We thank you greatly for your continued support, it’s needed more than ever this year. Looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday May 4th in Monagea. Please follow us on FB.
