Niamh to find her peak during fundraising marathon climb

Niamh Ni Chearbhaill will climb the three highest peaks in the UK on 28th of June 2013. That’s a total of 26 miles of mountain trekking in three days; Ben Nevis in Scot-land is 1,343m high, Scaffell Pike in England is 978m and Snowdon in Wales is 1,085m. Niamh has had open heart surgery, has struggled with her weight for twenty years, suffers from mild asthma, and is afraid of heights. So far, she has lost almost two and a half stone of the six she aims to lose and now exercises six days a week. “I have been inspired by a great many people in the last couple of years – without their inspiration, I may not have had the courage to go through with this life changing journey. Obesity can make you feel trapped and hopeless. Every day my sense of freedom grows. If I can do this, then so can others.”

HiB Fitness has become the first official sponsor of this 3peaks3days chall-enge. They have donated 9 months of gym membership to aid training for the event. Elvery Sports have also offered to supply some clothing and equipment and Flahavans are supplying some healthy breakfasts! Niamh is still looking for a major sponsor to cover the event expenses in return for brand promotion but is very grateful for the support so far. The goal is to raise €25,000 for the Irish Heart Foundation Heart Health Fund in memory of her father, Sean P. O Cearbhaill, who died of a second heart attack at the same age Niamh is now. Niamh hopes that this challenge will inspire others to take a similar journey to heart health. Support is wel-come in the form of donations or event spon-sorship.
