Queensland Rose Siobhan has Ballylanders connections

Siobhan Edwards, who has connections in Ballylanders, will take to the stage later this month for the Rose of Tralee Festival. 23-year-old Siobhan from Brisbane will represent Queensland at the Rose of Tralee, but she also has Cork and Limerick connections, as her great-grandmother came from Ballylanders, while her great- grandfather was from Meelin in Co. Cork. Siobhan’s mother Alannah is also travelling to Tralee for the Rose of Tralee competition, but she won’t be a stranger, as she visited the town in 1989, when she was the Queensland Rose and was interviewed on stage by Gay Byrne. Best wishes to Siobhán.
