Adare (392 marks) has retained its Limerick title in the National Tidy Towns Competition 2025, the national winner of which was Carrick-on-Shannon (Leitirm).
In the runners-up spot was Galbally (388), while Castleconnell (384) finished third. There was also the retention of Bronze Medals for both Ardpatrick and Newcastle West. First-time winner of the Endeavour Award was Kilmeedy.
In the schools category, Scoil Dean Cussen, Bruff, was named Tiny Tidy Towns Regional Winner for the South West/Mid-West Region. This follows a strong year for local schools, with almost 40 awarded Green Flags in May.
Separately, Kilmallock has been named the overall winner of the 2025 Limerick Going for Gold competition, taking home the top prize of €10,000 at a celebratory ceremony held in the Castletroy Park Hotel. The other podium places were secured by Templeglantine and Castleonnell.
Kilteely was named winner in the ‘Limerick Bee Friendly in Bloom’ category. Among others to be honoured were Granagh (Endeavour), Bruff (Judges’ Request), Kilmeedy and Hospital (ReUse), and Kildimo (New Entry).
In Cork North, Castletownroche was once again the winner (on 386 marks), ahead of Kildorrery (383), Millstreet (373) and Fermoy (369).
The excellent results reflect the great work being done by Tidy Towns volunteers, in conjunction with councils and local community groups.
