St. Mary’s Charleville………….4-8
Coachford College………………2-4
St Mary’s, captained by Róisín Herlihy, produced a strong, determined display to overcome Coachford in a thrilling, end-to-end match. Both teams fought fiercely from the throw-in, with early attacks from Róisín Herlihy and Lauren McAuliffe setting the tone. Ava McDonogh settled St. Mary’s with the first point of the game, soon followed by scores from Chloe Costelloe and Caila Neligan after excellent link-up play from midfield.
Coachford responded with pressure of their own, forcing key saves from Lauren Ronan, who was outstanding in goal throughout. In defence, Isabelle Barrett, Ruby Crowley, and Steffi O’Toole worked tirelessly to clear danger, while Orlaith McAuliffe and Grace Hickey were dominant in breaking up play and launching counterattacks. Chloe McGrath And Zoe O’Halloran did trojan work to get the ball out the wings and back up the field. A crucial moment came when Grace Hickey pounced on a loose ball in the square to find the back of the net, putting St Mary’s in control. Soon after, Caila Neligan added another powerful goal following excellent build-up from Lauren McAuliffe and Chloe Jones, giving St Mary’s a comfortable lead. Coachford rallied with a goal and a couple of points, but McAuliffe’s accuracy from frees kept the scoreboard ticking.
In the second half, Ciara Bresnan made an instant impact off the bench, scoring an unstoppable goal after a driving run from Caila. Lauren Finucane also found the back of the net late on to seal the win, while substitutes Eimear Troy, Emma O’Regan, Una O’Brien, and Anais O’Brien all contributed fresh legs and energy.
Despite a late Coachford goal and several dangerous attacks, St Mary’s defence stood firm, with Hannah Buicke blocking bravely and Zoe O’Halloran and Roisín Herlihy working tirelessly to clear their lines.
