Jack stars in ‘My Left Foot’ remake

Many people know Mallow man Jack Cronin from his exploits at the World Paralympic Games in years past, but now he is gaining recognition as an actor after he was selected to star in the film ‘My Left Foot’ as part of the Mourneabbey Film Awards, which will be staged in the Charleville Park Hotel on Saturday, 7th February.
‘My Left Foot’ is Jack’s first attempt at acting, and he is certainly starting big, as he has been cast as Christy Brown who was por-trayed so memorably by Daniel Day Lewis in the Oscar-winning film in 1989. By all accounts, Jack is a natural in the part, and he will be in the Hibernian Hotel this Saturday morning – along with 16 other cast members – for a Christy Brown Christmas Choral Coffee Morning. The coffee morning will feature a live performance of Christmas songs by the Mourneabbey Com-munity Choir under the baton of Carmel Breen, and a great event is anticipated.
The coffee morning is a fundraiser for the Movie Awards on February 7th, which will feature many of the local community in a variety of roles, with proceeds going to build disabled-access toilet facilities at Mourneabbey Community Centre, plus a multi-function room and a sensory room, which will be available to children and adults with a range of disability needs. The room will provide a structured calming environment for people who may be on the autistic spectrum, have learning difficulties, sensory impairments or dementia, to help them to unwind, manage anxiety and sensory overload, in their own dedicated space.
All are welcome to call to the Hibernian Hotel this Saturday for the coffee morning and to meet the talented cast of ‘My Left Foot’. For more details, see the Mallow pages, inside.
