Significant funding for Limerick projects

Significant funding has been allocated to four projects in County Limerick under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme. The projects are spread across the county.
In Athea, to redevelop the Athea Community Council Building into a modern, energy-efficient hub with meeting spaces, €496,000 has been allocated for workshops and accessible facilities to support local groups and sustainable rural regeneration.
In Adare, €300,000 will go towards a public realm enhancement project in the village, focusing on improved access for the local community and visitors.
In Cappamore, €50,000 has been allocated for a design plan for a multi-use community green space, including site assessments (site surveys, environ-mental assessments etc.), stakeholder engagement, design work, planning preparation and cost planning
In Croom, €50,000 is for the design of public realm improvements to the open area ‘market square’ in the centre of the village and the redevelopment of the former adjacent post office building.
The announcement by Minister for Rural and Community Development Dara Calleary was welcomed by his local ministerial colleagues Niall Collins and Patrick O’Donovan.
Said Mr. O’Donovan: “The Town and Village Renewal Scheme is a vital measure by Government and each of the projects announced today by Minister Calleary will have a hugely positive impact.”
“Each of these four projects will bring more vibrancy, drive economic growth and footfall, combat dereliction and vacancy, develop pedestrian zones and outdoor spaces and boost tourism for our community,” stated Mr. Collins.
There was also a welcome from Senator Joanne Collins and Independent TD Richard O’Donoghue.
The news was also acknowledged by Mayor John Moran, Príomh Chomhairleoir Cllr. Catherine Slattery, and Dr. Pat Daly, Local Authority Director General.
“Rural development continues to be a key priority for the government, and we will continue to support the revitalisation and resilience of rural Ireland, transforming our towns and villages – creating better places to live, work and participate in their local community,” said Minister Calleary.
