The RDS in Dublin is the venue this week for the Stripe Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition, and Cork and Limerick secondary schools are very well represented at the event which will see the Young Scientist of the Year announced tomorrow Friday. Limerick was the winner two years ago when Seán O’Sullivan from Coláiste Chiaráin in Croom took the top award, and the school has no fewer than six projects in the running for the 2026 award. Eleven schools in all are representing Limerick on the national stage, and as well as Coláiste Chiaráin they are Coláiste Iósaef, Kilmallock (with 2 entries), Coláiste Nano Nagle, Limerick city (3), Castletroy College (5), Desmond College, Newcastle West (8), Villiers Secondary School, Limerick city (3), Limerick City East Secondary School (1), Ardscoil Rís, Limerick city (2), Scoil Pól, Kilfinane (1), Gaelcholáiste Luimnigh, Limerick city (1) and Mungret Community College (1.)
In North Cork, Coláiste Treasa in Kanturk has 5 projects in the running, while Scoil Mhuire in Kanturk has two. In Mallow, St Mary’s Secondary School has 10 entries, while Davis College has four.
