Funding for Mallow Castle welcomed

 

The announcement of funding for Mallow Castle under the Historic Towns Initiative has been welcomed by Eoghan Kenny TD and Cllr Ronan Sheehan, who described it as a major boost for the town’s heritage and future development. A total of ten towns and structures across the country have been awarded funding for conservation works, with Mallow Castle being the local recipient.
Deputy Kenny, TD for Cork North Central, said the investment will play an important role in preserving and enhancing one of the town’s most significant historic landmarks. “Mallow Castle is at the heart of our town’s identity and history. This funding is a very positive step forward in protecting and improving this important site for both the local community and visitors,” he said.
Deputy Kenny confirmed that he will be working closely with Cllr Sheehan and engaging with Cork County Council to ensure the funding is used effectively.
“Together with Cllr Sheehan, I will be following up with Cork County Council on the best way this funding can be utilised to deliver real and lasting benefits for Mallow. It’s important that this investment supports the continued development of the town and its tourism pot-ential.”
Cllr Ronan Sheehan, Labour Party Councillor for Mallow, also welcomed the funding announcement. “As someone from Mallow, I know just how important Mallow Castle is to our local community. This funding is a really positive step and an opportunity to enhance a key amenity in the town,” he said. “I look forward to working with Deputy Kenny and Cork County Council to ensure this investment delivers meaningful improve-ments for Mallow and helps showcase our town’s rich heritage.”
Both representatives added that the funding is a welcome development for the wider Mallow area. “This is very pos-tive news for Mallow. Continued investment in our heritage is key to strengthening our local economy and preserving what makes our town unique.”
