Irish-language television station TG4 has a call out for applications from third-level graduates or newcomers to the industry to participate in a year-long work experience internship programme with the Irish language station.
A current intern is Maeve O’Connor of Cappagh who attended St James’ National School and continued her second-level education at Coláiste Mhúire, Askeaton.
She spent four years at the University of Limerick studying for a Bachelor of Education in Languages before moving to Galway to begin her professional career. She has worked as a secondary school French teacher in An Spidéal in Co. Galway.
Maeve has also gained international experience as a camp counsellor and youth worker in the United States, spending many summers working at summer camps based in Pennsylvania.
She particularly enjoys the active lifestyle of her current base in Galway as she has a strong interest in running and sea-swimm-ing.
Maeve enjoys working with young people and says that “it’s a privilege to work with TG4.”
Internships within TG4 offer valuable hands-on experience across a range of media roles, particularly for those with strong Irish language skills.
Opportunities include placements in areas such as social media, pro-duction, and sports broadcasting, where interns contribute to content creation, live event coverage, and digital engagement. Interns can gain experience across a variety of departments, including BLOC, MOLSCÉAL, Spórt TG4, Foghlaim TG4, as well as in graphic design and editing.
TG4 is currently seeking new interns in these areas, providing an exciting opportunity for individuals to develop practical skills in a dynamic, Irish-language media environ-ment while building a strong foundation for a career in broadcasting.
Those interested can send their CV with a cover letter to cv@tg4.ie.
