Local achievers honoured at Municipal District reception in Kilmallock

A Cappamore-Kilmallock Municipal District reception was held last Wednesday at the Deebert House Hotel, Kilmallock, celebrating a diverse group of local achievers.
The Cathaoirleach of the Municipal District Area, Councillor Greg Conway welcomed those in attendance including the Mayor of Limerick City and County Council John Moran along with Councillors Brigid Teefy, Noreen Stokes, Eddie Ryan, Martin Ryan, PJ Carey and Tommy O’Sullivan.
“On behalf of the seven councillors from the Municipal District of Cappamore – Kilmallock, I am delighted to welcome the recipients, along with their families and friends, to our Municipal District Reception this evening.”
The event honoured excellence across sport, education, community service and the arts, recognising individuals and groups, including:
* Coláiste Iósaef, Kilmallock- In recognition of the schools achievement in winning the AIB Future Sparks Schools Junior Small Group Environmental Prize 2025.
* Sophie Cronin, Kilfinane- In recognition of her achievements in winning County, Munster and National boxing titles.
* Tara Grogan, Galbally- In recognition of her achievement in winning a Bravery Award from the National Ambulance Service.
* Paudie Moloney, Kilmallock- In recognition of his achievements in the Traitors TV Series and also Dancing With The Stars.
* William O’Connor, Cappamore- In recognition of his achievement in competing internationally as a professional darts player.
* Tiarnán O’Donnell, Boher- In recognition of his achievements in competing internationally in Wheelchair Basketball and Paralympic Rowing.
* Frank O’Dwyer, Ballylanders- In recognition of his achievement in floorball with the Tipperary Special Olympics Group.
* Colin Ryan, Pallasgreen- In recognition of his achievement in winning the All-Ireland Poc Fada Championship.
“The decision to confer a Municipal District Reception is the highest award that the Municipal District can confer on people from the Municipal District and is a positive occasion for us all in the Municipal District, congratulations to all recipients,” Cllr Conway said.
“Following careful consideration and discussions in recent months, we as councillors of the Municipal District agreed that we would recognise seven people and one group from the Municipal District who have achieved National recognition, whether through sport, personal bravery, or other very commendable reasons.
“Such national achievements and awards are not only important for the recipients and their families, but they are also a source of pride for all of us in the Municipal District, and therefore worthy of acknowledgement this evening,” the Cathaoirleach of the Municipal District Area concluded.
