Clodagh jumps to national title

Clodagh Wals on the podium at the National Championships in Santry Stadium after she won the national senior pole vault title.

Clodagh Walsh from Abbey Striders AC won the national senior pole vault title at the National Senior Championships which were held in Santry, Co. Dublin last weekend. Clodagh jumped 3.65 metres in her first attempt, and that height was enough to win her the title, ahead of Una Brice of Leevale AC (3.25 metres) and Meabh Corkery from Midleton AC (3.15 metres).
Abbey Striders, founded in 1992 and providing track and field sport for the greater Mallow area, has enjoyed much success at regional and national level for over three decades, and Clodagh’s national win follows the success of many great athletes over the years.
