Team Ireland made a triumphant return to Dublin Airport yesterday, Wednesday, after their heroics at the Rio Paralympics, and among the medal winners at the homecoming celebrations were Eoghan Clifford, formerly from Crean, Meanus, who was sporting a gold and bronze medal, and Noelle Lenihan from Milford who had a bronze.
Noelle, who already holds the discus world record and won a world silver medal in Doha, and has a European Championships gold medal in the F38 category, took bronze in her event in Rio despite being injured in the run-up to her competition, and a homecoming celebration in her honour will be held in Milford Community Hall last night, Wednesday, at 8.30pm. Paracyclist Eoghan had a tremendous experience in Rio, winning gold in the C3 Time Trial, and bronze in the Indi-vidual Pursuit. Eoghan’s athletics adventure began on a bumpy, twisting circuit around Meanus, Athlacca and Bruff many years ago, and since then he has gone on to represent Ireland in World Cup and World Championship events, both on the road and on the indoor track.
