A positive future for Mallow General Hospital predicted at Friends AGM

The Friends of Mallow General Hospital held their AGM in the hospital on Monday night. Chairman, Ger Falvey welcomed everyone to the meeting and thanked them for their efforts during the year.
After the various reports were read out, the election of officers took place, as follows; President-Maureen Buckley. Vice-Presidents – Dr Neil Cronin, Dr Peter Gaffney, Dr Darragh Coakley, Chairman Ger Falvey. Vice Chairman Michael O’Callaghan. Hon. Sec. Noel O’Connor, Ass. Sec John Naughan, Hon Treasurer Noel O’Connor, Ass Treasurers Tim Ring/Donal Cashman, PRO Donal Cashman, Ass PRO, Patsy O’Gorman. Committee members, Dr John Kiely and Dr Daniel Symth.
There was an air of positivity in the meeting as a spending of over €6,000 was reported by the treasurer for the year 2025. The spending was in areas of the Radiology Department and in the Physiotherapy Department.
Chairperson Ger Falvey outlined how he hoped that we could continue to support the hospital by the purchase of necessary hospital equipment which was outside the HSE budget. Gerard paid tribute to all the doctors, nurses and staff in Mallow General Hospital who do so much to care for the patients in their charge.
Dr John Kiely outlined some of the positive changes that are happening in the Hospital. He was delighted to tell us that the new first floor of the hospital will be open in a matter of weeks. He was glad to report to us that the Diabetics Support Team in the hospital has been enhanced and there has been an increase in team numbers. He wished to thank the Friends of Mallow General Hospital for their support down through the years.
The meeting agreed on an expanded expenditure for this year on projects in the hospital which will amount to over €35,000.  Supporting the hospital in this way is what the people who donate to the Friends wish us to be doing, and we can assure those who subscribe through our website that the funds that they are contributing are put to very positive use in supporting the Hospital.

The meeting ended with reminiscences of past doctors and staff in the in the hospital, to whom the people of Mallow are very grateful to for their service to Mallow General Hospital.
