Aaron and Ronan win at Ireland welding competition

Two past pupils of Davis College, Aaron Cremin and Ronan Sheehan, came 1st and 2nd respectively at the National final of the World Skills 2022 Ireland Competition for Welding, and are pictured here with their former engineering teachers Shane O’ Riordan and Robert Stack. Both are currently serving their apprenticeships in Blackwater Engineering in Mallow with whom the school has had an excellent relationship over many years.

At the recent National Final of the World Skills 2022 Ireland Competition for Welding, there was tremendous success for two past pupils of Davis College, Aaron Cremin and Ronan Sheehan, both from Mallow, who came 1st and 2nd respectively in the All Ireland Competition.
The competition took place in the RDS between 13th- 15th September, testing the best of the best in the field of metal fabrication and welding. It is a tremendous result for the two apprentices, their educators and their employers. Both Aaron and Ronan were excellent engineering students in Davis College and have continued to make progress in their education as part of the apprenticeship programme. These students were always identified as exceptionally skilled engineering students during their time in school by their teachers Shane O’Riordan and Robert Stack. They were successful in the interview process after their Leaving Certificate and gained employment with a local engineering works company.
Both past pupils are currently serving their time as apprentices with Blackwater Engineering in Quartertown, continuing the outstanding relationship between the Davis College Engineering Department and the local company. The Doyle family in Blackwater Engineering have a long tradition of giving engineering students in Davis College an excellent training and qualification in the fields of fabrication, welding, automation and technical drawing after their second-level education.
Well done to both Aaron and Ronan and continued success to both in the completion of their apprenticeships.

Halloween Costume Day in Davis College
A great atmosphere prevailed in the College on Friday last as students and staff dressed up in our fancy-dress costume day. There was great anticipation as students came through the door in all sorts of costumes, ranging from TV characters, imitations of staff members, witches, ghosts and workmen etc. Some staff even dressed as students and attended classes. It was a good-humoured and fitting end to what has been a long and difficult term. Thanks to all staff, students and parents who contributed to this excellent event.

Basketball
Congratulations to our junior and senior girls’ basketball teams who had good victories over last week and remain unbeaten in their groups.
