The AGM of Abbeyfeale Community Alert took place on Wednesday April 11th. The following committee members were elected; James Stack Chairman, Mossie Gleeson Hon. Secretary, Mary McArthur, Assistant Secretary, Joint Treasurers Kathleen Collins, Marian Harnett. Sgt. Alberta McWalter, Newcastle West and Canon Tony Mullins PP both spoke on the value of Community Alert in the community and the time given by volunteers to help make their community a safer place to live. Following the AGM we had the five members (retired Councillors Seán Broderick and Micheál O’Kelly, John O’Sullivan who was a member of the original committee, Mossie Gleeson and Marian Harnett) who joined the committee when it was restarted 20 years ago, cut a cake to celebrate our twenty years of community activism. We also remembered past members who have died including the late Phil O’Kelly who was Chairperson for many years.
