Anti-Austerity Alliance Tours West Limerick

The Anti-Austerity Alliance (AAA) swept around parts of county Limerick last Saturday.  The occasion was a protest cavalcade of cars and vans. Among the places visited were Newcastle West and Rathkeale. The cavalcade stopped at the constituency offices of Limerick TDs Patrick O’Donovan and Dan Neville where Anti-Austerity Alliance candidates in 2014 Local Elections, Kathleen Enright and Joe Harrington, described the offices as “Scrooge’s Austerity Workshops”.  As it moved around, the cavalcade created a stir and a speaker addressed shoppers and called for voters to use the May 2014 Local Elections to “take the opportunity to deliver a hammer blow to Fine Gael, Fianna Fail and Labour and pay them back for the savage attacks they have made on people’s wages, conditions and services while the wealthiest section of the population have actually become richer”. The AAA candidates also called for the abolition of the Property Tax and also described the metering of water as preparation for the selling off of this basic necessity to the highest bidder.
