The people of Cork are going great work across the county by helping out in their local communities. Earlier this year, the Dulux Let’s Colour Project called upon Irish communities to take up their paint brushes to give ‘the mood of the nation’ a boost by helping transform dull grey spaces into colourful happy places.
One of the Cork projects being funded by Dulux Let’s Colour Project as well as the Akzo Nobel Community Programme is ASD Unit Liscarroll National School, North Cork. The special needs school opened in June 2010 and caters for autistic children from 4-11 year olds – however, with maintenance funding being very tight, the seven classroom walls remained white and uninspiring. A beautiful colour scheme was provided for the school by the Dulux colour consultant and paint was donated from the Let’s Colour Project paint fund. As part of the Akzo Nobel Community Programme, a global initiative where employees are encouraged to be actively involved in their local communities, Dulux are delighted to provide ASD Unit Liscarroll National School with brand new equipment and furnishings. A team of 17 Dulux employees spent a day in their painting gear recently, volunteering to make this school a beautiful, colourful environment for the children.
