Ballingarry Fun Run/Walk raises over €7,000 so far!

The Ballingarry 10K Run/Walk was a great success last Sunday. Everyone met up at the hall with Chief Executive John McCormack of ICS, and the atmosphere was electric with a large croud of runners this year, along with the walkers who had great empathy for one another with their own story to tell. I asked most competitors what they thought of the route and they said it was a great course with a few hills but most enjoyable. People handed in donations and went away again.

Race results, 1st Declan Moore; Time 35.39; 2nd Sean Cunningham; 39.24; 3rd Conor Lyons; 40.26. The first woman home was Tracy Johnson, 40.51; 2nd Caroline Conroy 43.56; 3rd Noelle Fitzgerald 44.50.

Thanks to everyone who helped to make this run a success; the volunteers who did road markings, sign posters, collectors, stewards, musicans and also the people in the hall, the ‘characters’ who collected €332 the day before, Fr Dan for his blessings, Garda Pat Holland, Dr Donal O’Riordan, Civil Defence Lorraine O’Flaherty, Denis and Kevin McMahon (thankfully not required). Thanks to all business people who sponsored medals, food, water, etc, and to people who took sponsorship cards and sold them. Many thanks to Seamus Hogan for doing MC, and to the media for such great coverage. Over £7000 has been collected so far, more info later. Shave or Dye will take place in Denny A’s pub on 13th October.
