Ballingarry Shave or Dye Cheque Presentation

The presentation of a cheque to the Irish Cancer Society took place in Denny A’s, Ballingarry last weekend and was a very enjoyable occasion. Thank you to everyone who attended, Dr Donal O’Riordan and his wife Catriona, and especially Chief Excutive of the ICS John McCormack who gave a talk on where our money is being spent in Limerick. He said the statistics show that 1048 people were diagnosed in Limerick in 2010 and one in every three will suffer from cancer and that more people are surviving by being diagnosed early and being treated,

That’s why our fundraising is vitally important for such worthy causes. The Shave/Dye event raised £3,397, all because Rob Curtis decided to shave his head and Denny A to shave his beard after a number of years. Thanks to all the sponsors and to Karen and staff for all their hard work and everyone who worked on it to raise these funds. Many thanks to Timmie and Jerry for playing music on the night and to Denny A for the use of his premises. Special thanks to Fr Dan for his blessing, Gerry Molyneaux for taking photos, the Weekly Observer for its coverage, Seamus Hogan and Nora O’Keeffe, and Jim Lacey of Drom Broadford who collects 1,500 each year from his area.

The total cheque between the Run/Walk and the Shave/Dye was €12,115. Since 2001 a total of 208,134 has been collected. Many thanks to all of you for your support; the hard work will still go on for this year with new ideas already in mind.
