Barry Group shortlisted for Deloitte Business Award

Indigenous companies are supporting the economic recovery right across Ireland, according to Deloitte, as the firm this week published the shortlist of indigenous Irish companies which will compete to be a Best Managed Company at the annual awards ceremony in March 2016. Among the shortlisted companies is the Barry Group, which is one of only five Cork firms nominated. Successful companies in this year’s programme will join the Best Managed Companies network of over 100 leading companies which have been recognised in the seven years since the programme began. One of the primary objectives of the awards programme is to showcase the success of indigenous companies and acknowledge the contribution that this sector makes to the economy. The companies featuring on the shortlist this year have total revenues of over €2 billion, and employ over 25,000 people.

Richard Howard, Lead Partner on Deloitte’s Best Managed Programme commented, “It’s really encouraging to see so many companies in the running for this year’s awards. We’re excited to see how companies are driving the growth of their businesses, and how they are capitalising on the opportunities of the growing economy. Just as strategies need to adapt in a downturn, plans for growth and expansion also need to be steered and driven by management, and this will be of particular focus for the judging panel. Overall, we are very much looking forward to recognising the cream of indigenous Irish industry.

The judging panel, chaired by Frank Ryan, will consider a broad range of criteria when deciding this year’s Best Managed companies – including strategy, capability, commitment, financials and growth potential across all key functions of the business.
