Benjie’s fundraiser proves the power of community

John Roche presenting Benjie Hallihan with a cheque to match the 200 euro raised by pupils of Canon Sheehan Primary School in support of Pieta House.

When Benjie Hallihan put a video on Facebook of ‘The Power of Song’, a concert he staged in Doneraile five years ago, he was hoping to raise €500 for Pieta House, but the response he got exceeded all expectations, and the figure has now passed €3,000. Many individuals and groups supported the fundraiser, among them the children of Canon Sheehan Primary School who raised €200. This sum was added to by John Roche of Londis Doneraile who matched the €200, bringing the collection to over €3,000, with money still pouring in.
This money will help Pieta House to provide 24-hour support to anyone suffering from self-harm or suicide ideation. Every euro is vital as Pieta was unable to hold its Darkness into Light fundraiser last weekend. Well done to the pupils and Londis. Hopefully you will enjoy Benjie’s ‘The Power of Song’ and, if you do, you will consider making a donation to Pieta House.
