Big crowds expected for Limerick Motor Club Hillclimb Championships in Martinstown


Large crowds of spectators are expected when Limerick Motor Club hosts the first rounds of the Alekto Irish Hillclimb and Sprint Championships in Martinstown on this Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th of March, writes John Barrett.
A great weekend of high speed motor sport action is promised with the highly coveted Adare and Treaty Rally Challenge trophies up for grabs. Competitors from all over Ireland will be competing in a wide variety of cars with a big entry expected, including some visitors from the Northern Irish Championship. The Limerick Motor Club event is once again organised by James O’Rourke and his family. Programmes for the event are now on sale in Sheehy’s Centra, Kilfinane, Murphy’s Your Stop, Kilfinane, Barrett Trailers, Kilfinane, Davy’s Bar Effin, IC Motor Factors and Tyres, Kilmallock, RL Motor Factors, Charleville and Lee’s Centra and Service Station, Charleville. The programmes, which are available at €10 each, really help support the event. The event organisers have commended all of the local businesses who supported the programme and main sponsors Keltec Engineering in Kilmallock and Barrett Trailers, Kilfinane. The paddock for the event is based at the Stake Wallace GAA Grounds where there will be overnight camping allowed, opening from 1pm on this Friday. Food will be available in the paddock all day on both Saturday and Sunday, with free tea and coffee in the event office.
Dinner will be served at Bulgaden Castle before prize giving on Saturday evening at 8pm and this can be pre booked in the event office. Barbecued food will be available in the paddock following the Limerick Motor Club Hillclimb event on Sunday.
