Minister for Finance Michael Noonan broke ground last Monday on the €5.5m CareBright Community at Ardykeohane, Bruff, Funded by the Department of Health, J.P. McManus Benevolent Fund and CareBright Limited, it will be Ireland’s first purpose-built community for people living with dementia, and the biggest investment in Bruff to date, with the creation of 30 jobs.
The CareBright Community will comprise 18 homes, each of which will have its own living room, bedroom, bathroom and private garden, while the CareBright Community and Day Care Hub will offer a range of facilities to its 200-plus visitors weekly, including a community cafe, spa and therapy rooms, gym, men’s sheds, and gardens for everyone to enjoy.
The CareBright Comm-unity, which is expected to open in August 2017, will be a person-centred, activity based model of care, similar to the very successful household model being used at Hogewey in Holland. For more, see page 28.
