BRUFF TIDY TOWNS GOING FOR GOLD

Bruff Tidy Towns has been shortlisted for the Limerick Going for Gold Community Challenge 2015.  There is a top prize of €10,000 with additional runner up prizes for this category.  Our initial application set out our efforts to enhance the wildlife and natural amenities around Bruff with special emphasis on developing further the ecological aspect of the Old Cork Road and rebuilding the Ink Bottle House. We intend

to enhance what is already naturally there to provide more wildflowers and forage for wild bees, butterflies and birds and impart information to the local community. This will involve:

*

Providing seating at suitable intervals

*

Survey for birds, butterflies, moths and bumblebees

*

Carry out a botanical survey of the banks and ditches as this area is potentially a source of wildflower seed

*

Information signs on flora, fauna and local history related to the Ink Bottle House which stands at the entrance to the Old Cork Road.

*

Build up walls of Ink Bottle House

This project is a follow on to the wonderful work now completed in the Morning Star Park.

Bruff Tidy Towns are asking people to encourage relatives, friends, and neighbors to support them by texting as follows:

Text “Gold” followed by “BRUFF” to “53095”.  Voting starts at 12 midday and finishes at 12 midnight on Wednesday next 29th July. Please diary date and time.

This is a great opportunity for the community to get together and support this project which is now being widely used by people who wish to improve their lifestyle.
