A week of fundraising events for Charleville’s Dessie Fitzgerald will kick off on Saturday with a bucket collection at the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Qualifier games at Semple Stadium, Thurles.

It is a double header featuring the meetings of Limerick v Dublin and Cork v Clare.

All volunteers are asked to attend a meeting in the clubhouse this Friday July 10th at 6.45pm where they will be issued with t-shirts and instructions. If you cannot attend the meeting please contact James Foley on 087-6688637.

The attention switches to Charleville Golf Club on Friday 17th July when a Golf Classic gets underway and continues on Saturday 18th July. Team of four: €200. Contact Kieran 086 -3155464, Tadgh 087-2691996.

On Friday evening there will be a fundraising banquet in Charleville Park Hotel, with Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh and a host of sporting celebrities and it is sold out. Any queries please contact Alan Fitzgibbon on 087-4188667.

Meanwhile Dessie is due to appear on our television screens shortly. He was interviewed recently by RTE’s Pascal Sheehy and could feature in the main Six One news as early as Friday evening, while he is also due a slot on Nationwide and that is expected to be screened next Monday evening when the video of his story will be featured and shown.
