People planning to attend the annual Cahirmee Horse Fair should take note that the 2020 event has been cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions. It was due to go ahead on Monday next, and usually attracts thousands of visitors who love the ‘horse trading’ and the banter of the fair, which has a history going back into the mists of time. A spokesperson said this week that, “it is important that everyone co-operates with the Gardaí and the County Council in ensuring that the rules are kept in place. Many, many people have had to make great sacrifices this year and Cahirmee Horse Fair is just one of the hundreds of festivals and events that have had to be cancelled. Buttevant is our town and the safety of its residents takes priority over everything else.”
