Mallow Camera Club celebrated its 30th anniversary recently in Springfort Hall with dinner and entertainment by guitarist Noel Walsh and members Teddy and Rory Sugrue. Special guest was Seamus O’Donoghue, Vice-President of the Irish Photographic Federation and a member of Shannon Camera Club. There was a very interesting presentation of the history of the club by John Hooton, one of the founder members. Other founder members present were John Doheny and Pat Sheehan. Colman Culhane and Tim Geary were added to the list and were presented with Honorary Life Memberships by chairperson Vivien Buckley. Prizes for Photographer of the Year competitions were presented by judges Anne Frances of Cork Camera Group and Cian O’Mahony of Blarney Photography Club. Congratulations to Joy Buckley who was announced as Photographer of the Year and won many other awards. Well done also to Jim McSweeney, Justyna Trzesicki and other award winners, Paul Tips, Viv Buckley, Janusz Trzesicki, Noreen Murphy, Christopher Bourke and Vincent Higgins. A fantastic night was had by all and nobody went home empty-handed as a 30th anniversary mug was given to each person who attended, as a souvenir of the great occasion.
