Cavanaghs of Charleville Ltd announced as one of Ireland’s 20 best managed companies

Cavanaghs of Charleville has recently been named one of Ireland’s best managed companies in the Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards Programme. In total, 20 companies which demonstrated superior business performance were recognised at a gala awards ceremony in the Burlington Hotel, Dublin, on March 2nd, attended by the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD. The Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards Programme, in association with Irish Life Corporate Business, recognises indigenous Irish companies across the island of Ireland which are operating at the highest levels of business performance.

Cavanaghs of Charleville was singled out from among the winners to receive a special accolade for ‘rising to the challenge’ which was the theme of this year’s programme. This award reflects the fact that, this year, the judges placed a particular emphasis on the innovative strategies that companies are adopting to ensure their continued success. Cavanaghs received a place on the IMI’s Senior Executive Programme which will equip one of its senior team with the strategic skills, leadership and understanding to position both themselves and their organisation for continued success.

Commenting on the award, Martin Condon, chairman and joint MD of Cavanaghs said, “We are tremendously proud to have achieved this award from Deloitte and it is a great recognition for our management, staff, suppliers and customers. It comes at a time when our economy, and our industry in particular, is experiencing tough times but an award such as this gives us huge encour-agement to continue our efforts.” This is Cavanaghs’ second National Award in a row having won the National Franchised Dealer of the Year Award from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry in 2011.

Brendan Jennings, Managing Partner Deloitte and judging panel member commented, “Huge congratulations must go to all the winners of this year’s programme. The judging panel were extremely impressed with the innovative strategies that are being adopted by Irish management teams. From diversification strategies to a particular focus on foreign expansion and overseas markets, Irish companies are exploiting new and exciting opportunities to ensure growth in their com-panies.”

David Harney, CEO Irish Life Corporate Business, and fellow judging panel member said, “Ireland’s best natural resource is still our people and as a country we have a huge demographic advantage particularly over our European neighbours. Best in class management of our companies is key to capitalising on this resource. Seeing the progress of companies in this programme would make one very optimistic about the future.”

The Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards programme is open to companies from all 32 counties on the island of Ireland. It is the only awards programme that considers a business’ performance from every perspective. Details of entry for the 2013 awards will be issued on the coming weeks on www.deloittebestmanaged.ie
