CBS Student Entrepreneurs win Sustainability Award for their Hurley Helmet Repair Business

Huge congratulations goes to our TY Student Enterprise Team – CBS Helmet Stitching who won the Sustainability Award at the recent North Cork Student Enterprise Competition which was held online. Well done to Ewan Dillon, Patrick O’Flynn, Rory Troy, Paudie Murphy and Oisín O’Sullivan who are the founders and owners of CBS Helmet Stitching. They set up a very successful hurling helmet repair and upgrade business within their student enterprise class which forms a central part of the CBS Charleville TY programme.
The company was set up in September at the start of their TY year and they worked extremely diligently throughout the year to grow their business. The central focus of their business was to provide handcrafted customised hurling helmets.
The students started working on their own helmets to develop the skills/knowledge of how to repair and customise hurling helmets. They then started to offer the service to other students within the school.
Through the use of their company social media account (Insta: cbs_helmet_stitching), they were able to advertise their services throughout Cork, Limerick and Kerry. As their business reputation grew, they developed a relationship with local hurley makers McAuliffe Hurley’s who supported their business by the supply of hurling related products such as sliotars and helmet padding as well as referring customers to their service.
Well done to the boys for the work throughout the year. The award is well deserved, given the many hours they spent working on their business throughout the year.
