Charleville-based BCD unveils €10m investment

A celebration of 40 years in business, and the completion of a €10m investment in its future, has been marked by one of North Cork’s largest employers, BCD, which is based in Charleville. Four years after its acquisition by the Masco Group, the company has officially unveiled its 3,000 sq. metre state-of-the-art expansion, underpinning its status as a European leader in developing process engineering solutions for its clients in pharm-aceutical, biotech, food and beverage, and chemical industries. The Charleville facility has now more than doubled in size as a result of this investment and currently employs over 240 full-time staff and a further 100 contractors.
BCD emerged from the former Golden Vale Engineering – a pioneer in process systems in Ireland – and today delivers design and engineered solutions for world leading brands such as Pfizer, Eli Lilly, JNJ, MSD, AstraZeneca, Abbvie, MSD, Carbery, Dairygold, Danone, Tirlan and Irish Distillers,
CEO Richard Keays said that the expansion is an investment in the future of the business, its employees and the wider North Cork and South Limerick area. John McMahon, founder of BCD, said, “When I look back on the last 40 years, I do so with incredible pride. Golden Vale Engineering was where it all originated, but when that closed it was far from the end, but instead a new beginning for this sector and for employment in this area. BCD picked up from there and what we see today is testimony to four decades of innov-ation, resilience and commitment of the entire team here.”
