Well Done Hillview Drive
On Thursday, 26th May, members of Charleville Tidy Towns were invited to Hillview Drive where we were informed that a clean-up was organised. We were delighted to see the whole place spic and span, not a single piece of rubbish in sight, and to see so many residents, especially so many children, decked out in their high viz jackets and gloves, armed with brushes and dustpans, and really intent on the task on hand. Great credit is due to all. We were so impressed by how hard everyone worked. All can take great pride in the lovely appearance of the estate when the work was finished. Evidence of the big effort put in was obvious from the bags of rubbish that had been collected. Special thanks is due to Teresa McCarthy who organised the clean up and got all the children involved. We hope you will continue to enjoy the fruits of your labour and continue to maintain the high standard achieved last week. Thank you so much for welcoming us to your estate. We really enjoyed our visit and hope the Spring Clean will become an annual event. Well done. Thank you John Moloney for collecting all the bags.
Anti Litter Challenge
Please be aware also that the third and final period of judging in the Anti Litter Challenge takes place from June 7th to June 15th. We expect to receive the results of the 2nd judging shortly and hope to publish them next week. Again we thank all who are disposing properly of their litter and continue to appeal especially to cigarette smokers not to drop their cigarette butts on the street. You don’t have to walk far on Main St to find a bin. Fingers crossed for an increase on our first round mark.
Tidy Towns Competition
Volunteers and Tus workers are working hard to have Charleville looking as well as it possibly can for the annual Tidy Towns Competition. Judging can take place anytime from Wednesday, 1st June to the end of July. A huge amount of work has been done and we will continue our weekly clean ups. We are grateful to have the support and help of so many individuals, businesses and organisations. Keeping our town tidy and litter free can only be achieved if every single person takes responsibility for disposing of their own wrappers, plastic bottles, chip cartons, cigarette butts or other items in the bins provided by the Council on our streets. Please play your part in keeping Charleville tidy.
Weekly Clean Up
As Monday, June 6th is a bank holiday, our weekly clean up will take place on Tuesday, June 7th. Meet at the graveyard at 7pm. Please bring hoes, brushes, shovels etc. Thank you.
