Colin Ronayne Memorial Fund set up

Mallow Search and Rescue is a local group very much at the heart of the com-munity, and the vital service it provides was highlighted last December and January when it was central to the massive effort undertaken in the search and recovery of Colin Ronayne from the River Lee. Colin was a beloved son, brother and friend, and to acknowledge the effort made by Mallow Search and Rescue during the tragic event, the Ronayne family have decided to set up the Colin Ronayne Memorial Fund to raise funds for the search and rescue group.
Colin had a massive interest in all sports, but in particular for greyhound racing, and with that in mind it has been decided to hold a Colin Ronayne Memorial Race Night to raise funds for Mallow Search and Rescue. The race night will be launched on Tuesday, September 13th, when further details will be outlined. If any person wishes to volunteer to sell tickets for this fundraiser they can private message the Colin Ronayne Memorial fund page on Facebook, or else email jjronayne@gmail.com, fergal.cronin@gmail.com, or noel.walsh@musgrave.ie.
Each year there are approximately 120 drownings in Ireland waterways. The victims of these tragic events are often not found immed-iately, leading to prolonged periods of anguish and distress for the bereaved relatives. Mallow Search and Rescue provides a year-round rescue, search and recovery service across the country to return missing persons to their families. It is a voluntary organisation and is fully funded through charitable donations.
