To mark World Mental Health Day on 10th of October 2021, West Limerick Mental Health Association invited musicians to play an in person concert at The Glorach, Abbeyfeale. After so many months of living with Covid 19 and its impact on our lives, West Limerick MHA was delighted to celebrate the resilience of the people of West Limerick. Music is a great tool to improve wellbeing and being with friends and neighbours at a live concert was a real treat. The concert featured a dazzling array of local talent. Father and son team Donal and Eoin Murphy drove the night on, ably assisted by the supremely talented duo of Jessie Healy and Gretta Curtin, with the songmaster Denis Curtin also on stage. Frances Kennedy joined in either side of the interval, provoking much mirth with her storytelling, but also lifting the roof with her powerful singing voice, including a beautiful version of the poignant ode to the famine era, ‘An teampallín bán’. The new sound and light system at the theatre was ably worked by DJ Curtin.
All in all, a great night, and witnessing so many dancing eyes, tapping toes and warm smiles, it was a fitting celebration of World Mental Health Day, Supported by Mental Health Ireland, West Limerick Mental Health Association promotes positive mental health and wellbeing in West Limerick with events and promotions. People can also tune into West Limerick 102FM for Wellness Wednesday every week at 11am, which is sponsored by West Limerick MHA.
