Labour TD Eoghan Kenny has expressed his disappoint-ment at the lack of detail in this week’s announcement of the renewed National Development Plan.
Deputy Kenny said, “With all the hype of the renewed National Development Plan, it is disappointing how little detail has been provided when so many vital infrastructure projects lie in limbo.
“Commuters, businesses, and workers remain in the dark about the development of the Cork-Limerick Motorway, with no detail provided on future funding for the project. This investment in infrastructure is a vital piece in the future development of Cork and Limerick, and serves to alleviate dire traffic congestion and deliver on much-needed infrastructure in the counties.
“Once again, we have little light at the end of the tunnel for the Mallow Relief Road with no detail on this project. Mallow continues to resemble a car park with the congestion issues persisting from the main street to all connecting roads around the town.
“With our climate hat on, and given the targets that have been set for 2030 and 2050 to reduce our emissions, the lack of detail on the Cork Luas from the announcement does not inspire confidence that this government is serious about investment in public transport in Cork, nor does it inspire confidence that government have a priority to reduce our emissions and increase climate friendly ways of travel for Cork commuters.
“These are three vital pieces of infrastructure for Cork, they are vital for our city and county to grow and develop, but once again we are in the dark about real and tangible delivery on these projects,” he said.
