Council to install PA system to stream music through Mallow town

The streets of Mallow will be alive for all special occasions into the future as Cork County Council announces that it intends to install a PA system to stream music through the town. The good news came to light this week as members of the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District agreed to purchase the new system from the town’s 2016 Development Fund – a fund introduced by Cork County Council to develop facilities in towns across the county.
Welcoming the announcement, local Councillor John Paul O’Shea (Ind) said: “This was a very positive step for the buzzing North Cork town of Mallow. Everyone can see how positive this system works in other towns across the country. Just take Killarney, for example, they pipe music through the town during the many festivals they have during the year and on the run-up to Christmas. It gives people a great buzz and feeling when you come into a town and see it alive. Listowel town is another great example where they have music piped right throughout the town during their harvest racing festival, creating a carnival atmosphere.”
Cllr. O’ Shea added: “Mallow is host to many positive festivals and events during the year. We have a wonderful Racing Home for Easter Festival every year, and Mallow Tri Club recently held a very successful Duathlon, attracting many new people to the town. This new PA system will assist with many of these events in welcoming people to Mallow into the future and providing them with an uplifting experience of the town. I look forward to seeing this PA system installed by Cork County Council in the very near future.”
