Final preparations are under way in Bruff for the visit of Philomena Lee on Friday 12th June. While in Bruff, Ms Lee will receive the 2015 Fitzgerald Bible Bruff Award in the Thomas Fitzgerald Centre. She is being given the award in recognition of her work through the Philomena Lee Foundation.

The organisers of the event, Bruff Heritage Group, got a further boost this week when Limerick City and County Council announced that they would be joining with the group in recognising the achievements of Ms Lee, who is originally from Newcastle West, according her a mayoral reception in Bruff on the occasion.

The Mayor of Limerick City and County, Cllr Kevin Shee-han, will attend the event in Bruff along with a number of officials from Limerick City and County Council, and a presentation will be made by them to Ms Lee. A number of other public representatives will also attend the function.
