Courtenay School bids  farewell to Geraldine Meaney

School Principal Shane Kelly wishing Ger Meaney a happy retirement on Friday last.

Courtenay School bade fond farewell to a much-loved member of staff last Friday.  Mrs. Geraldine Meaney had spent 35 years in Courtenay and taught many boys (and their dads) from the Newcastle West area. Ger had a brief stint teaching in Limerick city after college before moving back West! She also spent a few years in Castlemahon primary school.
Ger contributed much to school life both inside and outside the classroom. She taught many classes throughout her time in Courtenay and was a much-loved special needs teacher these past few years. Tributes and good wishes arrived from parents, family and former staff members.
Ger will be missed but will remain a firm friend of all those associated with Courtenay.
We wish her health and happiness in this new chapter.  Slán Ger. Guímid sláinte agus sonas
