Darkness into Light this Saturday

Thousands of people all over Ireland will be getting out of bed in the dead of night this weekend to take part in Darkness into Light, the annual fundraiser for Pieta which provides free suicide and self-harm prevention services to so many in Ireland throughout the year. The walkers and runners will set off at 4.15am on Saturday morning from a variety of locations all over the country, and there are walks at many locations, including the following;
Limerick: Cappamore, Kilmallock, Hospital (at John the Baptist School), Limerick city (at TÚS Moylish Park), Glenbrohane and Bruree.
Cork: Mallow, Fermoy, Blarney, Kanturk, Macroom, Millstreet and UCC.
Stephanie Manahan, CEO of Pieta, highlighted the ongoing importance of the event: “This event matters enormously to Pieta because it does two very powerful things. It brings people together in hope and solidarity, and it raises the funds that help keep our suicide and self-harm prevention services free and available to those who need them,” she stated.
“Every person who registers for Darkness into Light is helping to make real support possible, from crisis calls being answered to therapy being provided. With more people reaching out to us every year, that support has never been more important.”
People can register for their nearest walk at  darknessintolight.ie and in Mallow there is a pop-up shop in Bank Place (op- posite AIB) which can help people to sign on. Please join this great community event this Saturday morning, and support the vital work Pieta is doing.
Pieta is contactable at its 24-hour Crisis Helpline or Text HELP to 51444.
