Cork captain Darragh Fitzgibbon has capped off a stellar week by being named the GAA.ie Hurler of the week.
In a vote conducted on the GAA’s Instagram page, Darragh’s 3,951 votes saw him pull in more than double those of his nearest challengers, Kerry’s Padraig Boyle and Mossy Keoghan of Kilkenny.
The Charleville man and three-time All-Star had a starring role in Cork’s stirring two-point Munster Senior Hurling Championship win against Limerick at Páirc Uí Chaoimh last Sunday, scoring three points from play and coming out on top in a tremendous battle with Limerick’s Kyle Hayes. Darragh was rightly crowned Man of the Match at the end of a fantastic game of hurling.
Victory on Leeside made it two wins from two for Cork as they look to defend their Munster crown. Ben O’Connor’s charges will next be in action on Saturday week, 9th May, when they travel to Walsh Park to face Waterford.
