Dave is King of the Kube!

Dave Coyle, representing Dano’s SuperValu, was winner of The Kube, hosted by the Patrician Academy Parents’ Asociation, which was held in Mallow GAA Complex last Saturday, and is pictured her with his winners’ cheque for 1,000 euro.

Dave Coyle was crowned King of the Kube last Saturday night in Mallow GAA Complex after he beat Eoghan Kenny into second place in a hugely exciting finale to the event which was a major fundraiser for the Patrician Academy. Nearly 800 people packed into the hall which was the perfect venue for the night’s fun and games, with a shining dome up front and high-tech lighting and effects lending an exciting atmosphere. There were six heats in all, with participants representing local schools, businesses, organisations and more, and there was great fun and excitement as the 12 best went through to the semi final.
At the break, an auction was held and there was spirited bidding for the framed Munster Rugby photo, the signed Munster Rugby ball and programme, all donated by Bank of Ireland, and the signed Cork football jersey.
After this it was back to the action in the Kube, and it was getting tense as the remaining contestants took their turn in the glass structure. The final was a heart-stopping affair, but eventually a winner emerged, and that was Dave Coyle, who was representing Dano’s SuperValu, and just a second behind him was Patrician Academy student Eoghan Kenny.
Denise Mulcahy and all involved with the Patrician Academy Parents’ Association were delighted with the support on the night. “We know the contestants really enjoyed it and we are very grateful to them for taking part, and David Coyle was a worthy winner. The raffle and the auction were also a great success and the monies raised will be of great benefit to the Patrician Academy and its students,” she said. (See page 19.)
