Davis College 10K Run raises €4,120 for Pieta House

Joan Freeman visited Davis College last week to collect a cheque for €4,120, raised through the Davis College House System’s 10 kilometre run. The run took place in the grounds of Doneraile Park in March and was a huge success. In Ms. Freeman’s address she praised staff, students, parents and the wider Mallow community for their support of Pieta House. She also stated that the money raised would be used exclusively in the setting up of the Cork centre in Bishopstown. Pieta House is a non-profit organisation which provides a free, specialised treatment programme for people who have suicidal thoughts or engage in self-harming.

The House Cup was also presented on the day to the winning house, Danu. The Danu House Keepers Miss Kathy Kilgallon and Mr. Brian Moylan accepted the cup and commended the students of the winning house for the outstanding work that made the victory possible. A huge thank you was also extended to the House Committee (Miss Sharon Courtney, Mr.Jamie O’Herlihy, Miss Ashley Prenderville, Mr. Glen Burke, Miss Helen O’Hanlon and Mr. Kevin Duffy) for their outstanding enthusiasm and dedication in introducing the House System to Davis College.
