The second Junior Davis College Model United Nations (JDCMUN) was held last Friday in Davis College. The event was attended by over 150 people, including students, chaperones and guests. Students from Davis College were joined by second level schools from Cork and Tipperary. Primary school students from the local primary schools were also in attendance. This year the students debated an array of issues, including child labour, terrorism and medical ethics. These contemporary issues are important to modern society and created interest in the students attending. Students used and enhanced their communication, teamwork and leadership skills to come up with new, inventive solutions to these issues. There is an emphasis on co-operation. Students must work together to create solutions that will work on a worldwide scale. The conference concluded with an awards ceremony to commemorate the work and effort of outstanding individuals from both primary and secondary schools.
