Davis College senior footballers in Munster semi-final action

Davis College Senior football team who will play Colaiste Cluain Mealla, Clonmel, in the Munster semi-final next Wednesday January 15th. Included in the photograph are team coaches Pat Bradley and Colm Hyde, and Principal Stephen Gilbert.

Davis College senior footballers have qualified for the Munster semi-final in the Senior E section. They will face Coláiste Chluain Meala from Clonmel next Wednesday, January 15th, at a venue to be confirmed. The team have put in some very impressive performances along the way to reach this stage. In the first round they had a victory over Killorglin Community College on a scoreline of 6-10 to 2-8 in a tough game where the goals made the difference. In the second round they came up against St. Joseph’s Community College, Kilkee. This game was played on the 4G pitch at the University of Limerick and was a very close and competitive affair all the way through, but the Mallow boys pulled through with grit and determination as well as some very stylish football. At the quarter final, the opposition was Coláiste Mhuire Durlas, from Thurles. In this game Davis College dominated for much of the contest, coming through on a scoreline of 7-6 to 1-6, having played some very impressive football.
The school has players from clubs in the catchment area, including, Mallow, Kilshannig, Clyda Rovers, Killavullen, Doneraile, Banteer and Glen Rovers. All in the school community wish the lads the best of luck as they face into the semi-final.
