Killavullen and Castletownroche are in full celebration mode this week after local drift stars, brothers Conor and Jack Shanahan, and James Deane, took the top three places in the thrilling final round of the 2026 Formula Drift Championship which was held in Long Beach, California. Conor Shanahan headed into the finale leading the championship and needing just one battle victory to secure his first Formula Drift title, while five-time champion James Deane sat in second place, and Jack Shanahan was fourth. The drifting was fast and furious throughout, and, when the dust cleared, Conor Shanahan was crowned overall Formula Drift Champion, with James Deane second overall, and Jack Shanahan third. The results represent an unbelievable feat for three men who were raised just miles apart, racing from the quiet back roads of North Cork to burning rubber, clipping corners and making their mark on the world stage. For three young men from the same little corner of North Cork to reach such heights in international motorsport is something truly special, and their popularity was evident in Cork city recently when they were special guests at the Red Bull Homerun which was held on the South Mall and attracted thousands of supporters. We say congratulations to Conor, James and Jack for achieving such a remark-able feat last weekend, and there is no doubt that the future is very bright indeed for this talented trio.
