Drivers’ licence centre opens in Mallow

NDLS, the National Drivers’ Licence Service, opened at Market Square in Mallow last Monday, and drivers from the wider Mallow and North Cork area will be now able to access NDLS services, such as applications for learner permits and driver licences without the need to travel out of the area.

The opening was wel-comed by Deputy Tom Barry, who said it would be of much greater convenience than existing arrangements and would bring business and people into the town of Mallow. The new centre can be found on the second floor of no. 17 Market Square, and opens from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, and from 9am to 2pm on Saturday. It also opens during lunchtime.

To apply for either a new or a replacement learner permit or driver licence, people must now visit one of the new National Driver Licence Service (NDLS) centres nationwide. This is due to the move from paper to plastic learner permits and licences, which are more secure, long-lasting and convenient but also require extra security to make sure that the only person who uses your licence is you, and also to keep unlicensed, illegal drivers off our roads.
