Dromcollogher and District Respite Care Centre wish to acknowledge and thank everyone who joined with us on October 7th in marking the 5,000th admission to the centre and the unveiling of the plaque commemorating the event by Mr. Simon Harris TD Minister for Health.
Canon Ambrose opened the celebrations by welcoming the Minister and guests to the Respite Care Centre. Canon Ambrose spoke about the hard work and dedication that had resulted in the wonderful service being provided. He paid tribute to Seamus and Frances Stack for their dedication and commitment over the last 14 years. He thanked everyone for coming to join in the celebrations. He then invited the Minister to unveil the plaque.
The Minister in his address commended and acknowledged the wonderful work being conducted by the management, staff and volunteers at the Respite Care Centre.
He stated that the Respite Care Centre “is a model of best practice and what we need to see in more communities.” In his speech he stated how the need was identified and resulted in the home away from home service provided by the Respite Care Centre for the older person and their families/carers.
The Minister’s visit affirmed and validated the hard work and dedication by the local community and everyone concerned with the Centre. We appreciated the presence of the local TDs Patrick O’Donovan, Tom Neville and Niall Collins.
