€200,000 in funding announced for Mallow

 

There was good news for Mallow this week, with the announcement that the town has secured €200,000 in funding under the Sustainable Grant, C.C.C Scheme. The grants include €76,400 for an off-road pedestrian and cyclist link between the Town Park and railway station, €15,000 to upgrade the pedestrian crossings at St Mary’s Church and the Church of the Resurrection, €35,000 for a pedestrian crossing outside College Wood housing estate, €30,000 for improvements to the bus stop on the park road, €7,600 for lighting on the pedestrian crossings outside St Patrick’s NS, Dano’s Centra and Aldi, €10,000 to look at upgrading the junction between O’Brien Street and the Muddy Hill, and €15,000 to improve and upgrade the footpaths outside Katie’s Newsagents for the new taxi rank. The news was welcomed by Cllr James Kennedy who said that they would make it safer for pedestrians and cyclists to cross certain roads in the town.
