EFFIN WOMAN TO FEATURE ON ‘HOME COOK’S ACADEMY’

An Effin home cook will feature on the first episode of a new cookery programme, the first episode of which will be screened on TV3 this evening Thursday at 8.30pm.

In the first episode of this new series, Ann Marie Kennedy from Effin, who is famous for her bacon and cabbage, takes non-cooks, Sarah and Shane through her techniques. Once they have mastered that dish, they are then handed over to graphic designer, Lenore, originally from Cape Cod but now living in Dun Laoghaire, who will teach them how to assemble and cook Lenore’s Lovely Lasagne – an Italian classic with a serious cheesy twist.

Anne Marie, who is an Administrator in the Midwifery Department of the University of Limerick, traces her love of cooking to her mother, who is a great home cook and an excellent teacher.

Ann Marie’s dish is inspired by her mother. It is bacon and cabbage, served with floury potatoes and a quick homemade parsley sauce.

The first show opens with this classic Irish dish which has been served in most Irish homes going back through the decades. It is a comfort food that reminds Ann Marie of her mother’s cooking.

In each episode there will be two home cooks who will share their recipes with two non-cooks, people who have never learned the basics. The shows will be presented by Angeline Ball.
